I'm a Lecturer in Psychology at Oxford Brookes University. Broadly speaking, I am interested in understanding how psychological and social processes interact in generating and sustaining both the similarities and the differences in how we conceive of and engage with the 'supernatural' across cultures. Currently, my work centers around questions of the causes and consequences of change in the concerns of religious and spiritual communities. What drives the adherents of longstanding religious traditions to adopt new moral concerns? What drives the emergence of new spiritual traditions? Through my research, I seek to illuminate the forces that shape these evolving belief landscapes, revealing how cultural shifts and existential challenges redefine our understanding of the sacred.
